An interactive installation for the 2017 Golden Pin Design Award ceremony at eslite Performance Hall, commissioned through Bito Studio. This was my first project as interaction director, from concept to execution.
The Golden Pin Design Award is Taiwan's longest-running design award, established in 1981. The 2017 theme was Convergence. Bito invited me to design the interactive experiences for the ceremony, and I wanted to break the standard format where the audience just sits and watches. The idea was to make the event itself feel like a demonstration of what convergence actually means, not just a word on a poster.
Installation One
-- Sponge Screen
An interactive installation at the entrance, built around a 200cm elastic screen. Visitors could push and deform the surface, and the visuals responded in real time to the pressure and movement. The elastic cloth became the literal boundary between the physical and the digital. You could feel the resistance of the material while watching the screen react to your touch.
Installation Two

Three interactive modes designed for the award presentations: attraction, rejection, and disturbance. Each recipient's movements on stage triggered different generative visual responses. The algorithms ensured no two moments looked the same. Every person who walked up to receive an award created a visual performance that was theirs alone.
